I can't mention the bonus tracks as the CD has not yet arrived - except for the last track.Well you don't expect it to be any good do you? But if you're a Who fan you just have to have it.Don't you? The one remaining track - Look Out Cleveland - if you like Linda Rondstat, you might like this. There's rockin' and rollin' from Hard Stuff and Silverhead, the Wild Horses era Stonesy Gold Medallions by Tucky Buzzard(probably due to the involvement of Bill Wyman,)a decent cover of I Can't Explain and the lovely Hawaii by Ian 'Jesus Christ Superstar' Gillan's ex - sort of - Yvonne 'Mary Magdelane' Elliman - produced by Pete Townsend - some nice acoustic pickin' on Buddy Bohn's Vermouth Rondo and my three favourites:Ĭelebration by Tony Ashton and Jon Lord (official Legend - R.I.P) - a taste of things to come,Ĭlouds In My Hair - on the odd side of things,by Muldoon - who a certain Madge took an interest in circa Ray Of Light,Īnd my absolute fave track on here,Hamburgers - a non album single track by Rupert Hine - sort of like Kevin Ayers, sort of cool. Purple tracks included on it were Smoke.which no one really needs to hear again, surely? and the more (at the time) rare and obscure, personal fave When A Blind Man Cries. Yes,it was worth buying twice - three times,in fact with the purchase of this expanded CD version. The album first came to my attention when it was bought for me as a Christmas present by a schoolmate in it's re-released form as Rock Reflections on the MFP label, but I later bought a copy of the original from the legendary Cob Records in Porthmadog. This album is one put out by Purple Records, and features tracks by acts signed by the band to the label, many of which were produced by various members. Some of these became quite legendary such as You Can All Join In,Nice Enough To Eat,and Picnic. The late 60's and early 70's,saw the release of many sampler albums, mainly put out by 'progressive'labels, as a way of getting prospective purchasers to hear music by the less well known acts signed to that label. These were very cheap and would include a couple of songs by the bigger signings to lure the punters in. * = first time on CD in the UK for these tracks / versions. Vocal Movement from Gemini Suite / JON LORD* Love's Bringing Me Down / YVONNE ELLIMAN
